"Country Walk"
Artist: Donald Zolan
Genre: All Genres
Size of Original: 36" by 36"
Sometimes it's a little girl's dream to have a big brother take her places where her mother wouldn't let her go alone. "I remember how my son used to take his little sister on walks," Zolan says. "I loved the innocence and trust I saw in her and the confidence I saw in him." He shows the two children in this work at the moment when the boy is smiling down at the little girl and she is gazing up at him with fascination all over her face. He may be telling her a favorite story because she is listening intently. His little sister probably makes him feel grown up and important. This looks like a day in late summer because the grass is golden brown. A few meadow flowers still dot the landscape, but most have shed their petals and changed to seedpods, waiting for spring rains to bring them new life. Zolan's beautiful colors really call up the sounds and smells and warmth of a sunny meadow.
